In 2013, I was the Featured Artist for the Lewisburg Arts Council with fraktur as the historic art celebrating the Union County Bicentennial Celebration.  Now, in 2019, all the featured artists for the past 20 years are brought together to celebrate 50 years of the Lewisburg Arts Council.

Thanks to all the participants in my “Introduction to Fraktur” workshop at Landis Valley.  It’s always fun to see so much progress in such a short time… besides, its also fun to get out the big brushes to lay out some really big lettering!

Lewisburg

This show is a wonderful local show held at the Country Cupboard in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania the end of January. It’s easy to remember since it is always Super Bowl weekend, which is perfect timing for all the snowbound craftsmen to get out of the shops and dust themselves off for a little while. This show always has an abundance of great craftsmen, remarkable antiques, and plenty of food.

I have been juried into Early American Life for the 2012-2013 directory, a publication that showcases the premier craftsmen working in the traditional arts. The directory is a compilation of juried members who are selected by a panel of museum curators, scholars, and other experts, with juried status lasting two years. The directory is a companion to the magazine Early American Life which is a bi-monthly publication (plus a Christmas issue) that showcases different aspects of early American traditions, decoration, and style.

The Contemporary Longrifle Association has been a great facilitator in promoting the mingling of many different historical trades and craftsmen, which has been a wonderful experience. My work was pictured in the latest edition of American Tradition – The Journal of the Contemporary Longrifle Association (January 2012, Volume 3, No.1). You can find my traditional-style wedding fraktur in the article “From These Hands: Folk Tradition of the CLA” on page 7.
